Since 2005 The Cardiac Bear has been accompanying patients and their families during the process through medical crisis, recovery, and along their health and wellness journey.
Following open heart surgery, patients need to forcefully cough to remove the phlegm and open the air sacs at the bottom of their lungs. Coughing, laughter, sneezing, and movement of any kind brings pain and discomfort on the fresh wound. Many patients find relief in pressing a pillow against the stitches but have difficulty in finding one that’s stuffed adequately enough to relieve the pain.
Our firmly stuffed Cardiac Bear standing at 17” tall can be dressed in one of our Cardiac Bear Tee shirts, or this adorable Dr. Scrub outfit! It doesn’t easily compress like an ordinary pillow or other stuffed bears. It’s been thoughtfully designed with the help of cardiologists and critical care nurses to be a functional, sturdy, and comforting support solution for post-surgery healing.
The fabric of our Antimicrobial Cardiac Heart Bear will help prevent patients from getting a staph infection or MRSA from the hospital should the bear fall on the hospital floor. Let’s face it--as best as every hospital tries, there’s no way to totally prevent anyone from getting an infection should someone track something in on their shoes when visiting a loved one.
